VICTORIA FALLS GORGES

These are photos of the gorges below Victoria Falls. The walls of the gorges are nearly vertical and generally about 400 ft high.

Over at least 100,000 years, the falls have been receding upstream through the gorges eroding the sandstone-filled cracks to form the various gorges. The river has fallen in different eras into different chasms which now form a series of sharply zig-zagging gorges downstream from the falls. Some of the gorges each represents a past site of the falls at a time when they fell into one long straight chasm as they do now. Their sizes indicate that we are not living in the age of the widest ever falls.

  • Your group really looks like you get along well. Are they a good bunch? Kim got two packages sent off so I hope they get to you. You'll have to let us know. It was pretty nice today I tried to scrape some ice off my driveway. It's suppose to get really cold next week. Garry went into work for alittle today. He gets really tired quick. The kids are done with school Dec. 19th for ex-mas break. They will get 14 days off. The boys have their first BB game Sat. Darin made varsity also this year so would be fun for the boys to play together this year. Well Kristen needs me to help her with homework. See ya later.lori
